DUM THODA KAM HAI
When it comes to action, i am a die hard Salman fan. but it's not team fortress game where the only thing you do is aim and shoot. there are fans waiting to see him play the smartass, slightly grey, maybe-not-too-straight character who turns to be endearing when he saves the damsel in distress. hey, don't dis it, it worked brilliantly in Wanted and Dabanng.

alas, Bodyguard turns out to be a love story. Salman is hot even those. remember Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Maine Pyar Kiya or the ever popular Hum Aapke Hain Koun so why am i lamenting?
NOT ENOUGH BODIES, NOT ENOUGH LOVE
The movie falls short in both action and romance. the action sequence in the ruins is brilliant, but there's only that lame one on the ship (where only the sliding down the steps is totally awesome). that's it. THAT'S IT? for a movie that lasts two hours and ten minutes (that's how long bhai says his films are, and we fans don't dispute!) only two fight sequences? bahut naainsaafi hai.
In the romance department, being the protector of a damsel under threat is so much like Main Hoon Naa it's not funny at all. then they decide they are going to borrow the most awful thing about Kuch Kuch Hota Hai: the kid. it's a boy not a girl, who's reading from a diary of a dead mother, not letters. but it still does not take away the blatant borrowing. and i don't think it's a coincidence that the child is named after another character in the same movie. in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai the child was named after the lost friend, here, he is named after the beloved maalik, and called Sartaj.
ROMANCE BHI LAME HAI
Kareena Kapoor is yet to get over Jab We Met. clotheswise, at least. she looks lovely in the short kurtis/tees over shalwaars but okay already. she is still playing the prankster from Jab We Met and that twinkle in her eye feels jaded, somehow.
SALMAN IS HOT AS EVER. THEN WHO CARES, RIGHT?
Don't know. I seriously don't know. they added the ugliest, non-endearing extra large person to elicit a few laughs. but every time the chap attempted crude sexual innuendo at the cook, i wish she would take a rolling pin and hit him really hard. once for herself and several times for the audience. but that's more than what i was hoping to say about the puke inducing attempt at adding humor to the movie.
Salman Khan is by far the hottest thing in Bollywood. He wears his clothes well, he knows how to dance, he spouts out dialogue that makes his movies so much fun, and he has an ever increasing fan base. he just needs to choose the stories carefully. it's got to be a littl more than 'You are a loyal bodyguard and are to protect this college girl'. dammit, Kevin Kostner and Whitney Houston had more crackling chemistry than Salman and Kareena. frankly, Bodyguard disappoints because the villains are so ridiculously lame. fighting mogambo is one thing, but fighting pimps?
Himesh Reshammiya deserves a huge applause simply because his music is one of the best things in the movie after Salman Khan. am a fan, happy to see him look so delish, but at the same time disappointed that he was so straight, not the rascal of Dabanng or the chuupa rustom of Wanted.

Hmm.... Bodyguard... a prem kahani thats very subtly different...
What can i say, Salman Khan does have a midas touch when it comes to making movies or being in movies that are Paisa Vasool just like this one...
The first thing you'll notice is, how apt Sallu's name in the movie together with his character. He is really Lovely. You wont get to see his obnoxious over the top comedic antics (in which we all love). In fact, he is subdued. *notice i didnt use the word 'very' in there.
Kareena is lovely in the film (pun not intended). A character that i believe was an easy character for her to play out.
Overall, it is an entertainer of a movie in which i believe that is what all Sallu's fans are looking for. So, if you are a huge Salman Khan's fan, yes then this is definitely an entertainer of a movie...
And yes, of course his top is taken out... but this time... you've to watch to see how he gets.. "stripped" :)
