Auro is an intelligent and witty 13-year-old boy with an extremely rare genetic defect that causes accelerated aging. He suffers from a progeria-like syndrome. Mentally he is 13, very normal, but physically he looks five times older. In spite of his condition, Auro is a very happy boy. He lives with his mother Vidya who is a gynecologist. Amol Arte is young, progressive and a full-of-ideals politician. He is out to prove to the world that 'politics' is not a bad word. He is a man with a mission. Auro is Amol's son.

Amitabh Bachchan acts as a son, whose father is played by his son Abhishek Bachchan.

This film was inspired by Jack (1996), making it the second film to star the Sr.-Jr. Bachchans that has been based on a Francis Ford Coppola film. The first was Sarkar (2005), which was based on The Godfather (1972).

This is the second time Amitabh Bachchan draws inspiration from a Robin Williams film. The first was Aladdin (1992), which inspired Bachchan's performance as Genius in Aladin (2009). This film was inspired by Jack (1996), which stared Williams in the eponymous title.

Amitabh Bachchan's makeup/prosthetics as Aurol Arte took six hours to apply.

Jaya Bhaduri called out the credits at the beginning of the movie. Ironically, this was done by her husband Amitabh Bachchan for her film 'Bawarchi (1972)',
