A boy is friends with a girl. In fact, they would have grown up together. And one fine day when the girl steps out for a date with the neighborhood romeo or the office hottie, the boy realises that he has been in love with the girl for ever and ever. Well, sometimes the boy has to rescue her from the clutches of the evil guys, walk out of the burning building with the fainted girl in his arms...We’re not kidding! This is the plot of so many Hollywood rom-coms and even more Hindi films, we simply need to make a list here to jog your collective memory.
Childhood Pals
You don’t have to be a cinema historian to remember Muqaddar Ka Sikander and how the little boy pines away for his ‘memsaab’ and grows up to this motorbike riding Sikandar who still sings, ‘O Saathi Re...’ Fun part is, you do not cringe at all when you see the little girl who has fully bloomed into a disco dancing (in a red frilly dress, and Princess Leia hairstyle!) gal wear sarees and sing the same song on stage!
Jaane Tu... Ya Jaane Naa is a perfect example of how the whole world knows that they are in love, but it takes an eon for the light bulb above his head to make him realise that he cannot let her go abroad without telling her that he loves her.
In Band Bajaa Baraat, Anushka Sharma and Ranveer Singh are perfect friends and business partners, and even lovers, but it takes a careless remark from Ranveer to have them break up.
