Holi is that time of the year when villagers blinded by colour and soaked in Bhang. Basically, it is time when all defenses are down and everyone in the village is drunk in the game of love. Gabbar's strategy works and the villagers are caught unawares. But the story proceeds forward in so many little ways: Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya come close to express their love for each other.Dharmendra and Hema Malini express their love openly in the song. In Mother India, when they sing Holi Aai Re Kanhai Rang Barse, the director paints a miniature world of every character reacting to Holi.

In Navrang, whether you like Sandhya's style of dance or not, you cannot but marvel at the imaginative use of color in the holi song.Rajesh Khanna and Mumtaz drank bhang and we are still singing Jai Jai Shivshanker during Holi and Mahashivratri.
