

The first Irish Film Festival Of India, will take place on 23 February,2012, at the National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA).
The theme of the inaugural festival is The Writing Irish, a celebration of the great Irish writers. Films being shown include screen adaptations of works by the likes of James Joyce, and Brian Friel.
Speaking to FilmOrbit, film maker and festival director Marc Ivan said, “I am looking forward to the festival in Mumbai and I hope to have it every year. There is a lot of similarity between the two cultures and also there is immense scope in India. I also plan to have a festival of animated films since a lot of production companies around the world are using Indian animators for their film.”
This event is presented by Cleverality Productions with the support of the Embassy of Ireland India, The Irish Film Institute, Enterprise Ireland and Culture Ireland. Films being screened include; Blood Coloured Moon (2009), directed by Marc-Ivan O’Gorman, The Dead (1987) directed by John Huston, Circle of Friends (1995) directed by Pat O’Connor and The Butcher Boy (1997) directed by Neil Jordan.
The three day festival ends on 26 February, 2012.
