    Bimal Roy's immortal classic Devdas, has been remade in many different languages, including the Hindi remake in 2002, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, starring Shah Rukh Khan. That is probably one of the reasons why Nasreen Munni Kabeer> chose Shah Rukh to unveil her latest book, Dialogue of Devdas, which has complete dialogues by Rajinder Singh Bedi.

    The original Devdas, Dilip Kumar, could not attend the launch due to ill health. Shah Rukh, read out a letter on Kumar’s behalf. Speaking at the launch, Shah Rukh said, “Had we seen Bimal Roy’s Devdas,before remaking the 2002 Devdas, we would never have had the guts to make it. All of us including Sanjay, Aishwarya and Madhuri felt that we should finish shooting our film first and only then we should watch the original Devdas.”

    Shah Rukh Khan said that he also feels nobody can imitate Dilip Kumar."You can't imitate Dilip Kumar. And whoever does it are idiots like me!" added Shah Rukh.
