An actor and comedian known for his bawdy stand-up sets and broad impersonations of Maya Angelou, Marion Barry and Cuba Gooding Jr., Tracy Morgan was born Nov. 10, 1968, in the Bronx, N.Y. He was discovered as a teenager, telling jokes at the world-famous Apollo Theater, and built his career on the comedy club circuit.Morgan's first big brush with fame came in 1996 with his stint as a regular player on "Saturday Night Live." Recurring segments found him starring as swinging spaceman Astronaut Jones and as animal enthusiast Brian Fellow, an amateur zoologist with no formal training. In the wake of his "SNL" success, Morgan landed a role playing -- what else? -- a caricature of himself on the hit sitcom "30 Rock," created by "SNL" alumna Tina Fey. His work on the show was recognized in 2009 with an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actor.
